Role Summary: The Director of Development & Community Engagement is the chief fundraiser, strategist, planner, and advocate for UWTV’s impactful donor and community engagement initiatives. As a key executive leader, the Director will provide vision and direction for all fundraising efforts, fostering high-functioning partnerships across the organization to ensure collaborative success. The role requires the ability to develop and nurture strong relationships with corporations, foundations, donors, and government entities at all levels.

Stewardship is a central pillar of this role. The Director is expected to embody a commitment to building long-term, trust-based relationships with donors and stakeholders, ensuring that their contributions are recognized, appreciated, and managed with transparency and accountability. This leader must have a strong professional presence and the credibility to represent UWTV across the community, advocating for our mission and ensuring that our fundraising and engagement strategies align with the broader vision of service and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Strategy & Planning
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Develops annual revenue goals and a comprehensive development strategy to diversify and increase resources.
    • Supports development of agency communications to inspire and motivate donors.
    • Plans and executes annual calendar of fundraising and engagement activities.
    • Partners with the CEO, volunteer leaders, and staff to solicit and secure donations, grants, and underwriting.
  • Relationship Building & Community Engagement
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Works closely with the CEO, board of directors, and volunteer committees to advance fundraising and outreach efforts.
    • Collaborates with a passionate team to cultivate and strengthen relationships that lead to lasting community impact.
    • Leads and engages the resource development team and staff, fostering a culture of passion and effective communication.
  • Donor Stewardship & Reporting
    • ​​​​​​​Oversees stewardship, gift accounting, and reporting functions to ensure donor expectations are met and exceeded.
    • Manages the donor CRM to ensure accurate records and seamless communication with donors.
    • Directs the writing of funding proposals, direct appeals, and special event materials, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Supports and mentors staff, board members, and key volunteers in their development activities, providing guidance and leadership in fundraising efforts.
    • Works closely with other departments of UWTV to advance mission.

Education and Experience: We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and recognize that various combinations of education and experience can contribute to the necessary knowledge and abilities for this role. We encourage candidates to showcase their unique qualifications. Common education and experiences may include:

  • A bachelor's degree in nonprofit administration, business, communications, public administration, finance or related field preferred
  • Experience as a successful fundraising professional
  • Demonstrated success and skills motivating, directing, and managing staff and community volunteers in the coordination and support of fundraising activities
  • Experienced public speaker and facilitator

Physical Requirements and Travel: The ability to meet standard physical demands of an office environment, including prolonged periods of computer use. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.  Some local travel is expected.

Location:  Boise, Idaho; offering the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule

Competitive Package: This is a full-time exempt level position with a competitive annual salary range starting at $77,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, and a retirement match.
