Salary/Compensation: Salary will be provided for the first six months; continued funding is contingent upon the successful acquisition of additional financial resources.
About Us:
The Diabetes Alliance of Idaho (DAI) is an independent, volunteer organization consisting of individuals and agencies dedicated to the prevention and reduction of the personal and public impact of diabetes in Idaho’s communities. The DAI works together to improve access to quality health care, increase awareness and support through education, and reduce diabetes complications for those challenged with diabetes in Idaho. We are excited to welcome a new Executive Director to lead us to a new level of organizational growth and impact!
Position Overview:
The Executive Director is responsible for providing administrative leadership for a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to work with the board of directors to implement strategic goals, meet contractual goals and objectives and oversee its fiscal and organizational processes. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors.
This is a part-time position with a salary provided for the first six months. During this period, the Executive Director will be expected to identify and secure additional funding to sustain their role and contribute to the organization’s continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
● Leadership and Strategic Planning:
o Provide vision and leadership in the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan,
aligning activities with the mission and goals of the Diabetes Alliance of Idaho.
o Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing the Diabetes Alliance of Idaho at public events, in communications, and with key stakeholders.
o Foster a positive and collaborative organizational culture, ensuring clear communication and strong
relationships with staff, volunteers, and board members.
● Fundraising and Grant Management:
o Research, identify, and apply for grants and other funding opportunities to support the organization’s
programs and the Executive Director position.
o Develop and maintain relationships with foundations, grant-making organizations, and individual donors
to secure funding.
o Create and implement a fundraising plan to diversify revenue streams and ensure the long-term financial
sustainability of the Diabetes Alliance of Idaho.
● Program Management:
o Collaborate with the board of directors in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the
organization's programs and services, ensuring they align with the mission and strategic goals.
o Work closely with the board of directors to assess community needs and develop impactful programs.
o Ensure organizations Policy and Procedures are current and adhered to.
● Operational Management:
o Manage operations, including budgeting, financial management, and reporting to the board of directors.
o Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
o Manage and maintain the DAI website, email, and social media
o Collaborate with the board of directors to publish the DAI monthly newsletter.
o Oversee human resources activities, including the recruitment, training, and management of staff and
volunteers.
● Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
o Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community partners, local organizations, government
agencies, and other key stakeholders including Idaho’s diabetes education and prevention programs.
o Promote awareness of Diabetes Alliance of Idaho’s mission and programs through effective
communication strategies, including social media, newsletters, and public presentations.
Qualifications: Required
● Knowledge of nonprofit rules and regulations.
● Proven track record of securing grants and building relationships with funders.
● Experience with financial management, including budgeting and reporting in addition to QuickBooks and Excel.
● Strategic thinker with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
Qualifications: Preferred
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
● Passion for diabetes awareness and prevention in Idaho.
Compensation:
● Part time, non-benefited hourly salary of up to $30/hour for 10 hours/week provided for the first 6 months, with the expectation that the Executive Director will secure additional funding to support the role beyond this period.
