At Camp Rainbow Gold, we provide hope, love, and fun to Idaho's children with cancer and their families. The Program Director is the driving force behind the success of Camp Rainbow Gold’s camp programs, ensuring their delivery, quality, and growth. This role focuses on program execution, volunteer management, and strategic outreach to engage families, volunteers, and community partners. The Program Director leads the coordination and administration of all aspects of camp operations, including planning, staffing, and evaluation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITLITES

Program Management

  • Implement as the staff partner with volunteer operations teams two weeks of residential summer camp for children who have cancer between the ages of 6-17, two family camps for children with cancer and their families, a sibling residential camp for children ages 6-17, two day camps, and any future camp programs.
  • Oversee program planning and development, logistics, and management of equipment.
  • Supervise the Medical Coordinator and ensure all medical aspects of camp align with standards.
  • Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program.
  • Address challenges proactively and assertively while identifying and mitigating risks associated with program activities.

Volunteer Management

  • Support the Volunteer Manger in recruiting and training camp volunteers.
  • Provide feedback to volunteers, ensuring effective communication and proper documentation.
  • Assist Volunteer Manager in development of volunteer leadership plan that includes training, evaluation, and succession planning.
  • Supervise and support volunteers during onsite camp programs.

Program Administration and Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with families, local vendors, and community and regional partners.
  • Promote Camp Rainbow Gold’s programs to expand outreach efforts to connect with new families.
  • Ensure data collection for families, volunteers, in-kind donations, and manage communications and acknowledgments.
  • Assist the Director of Operations in developing an annual budget while ensuring fiscal responsibility and adherence to financial policies through regular budget monitoring for all programs
  • Utilize CampDoc and Bloomerang to ensure camper profiles and program data are accurate and complete.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards, including ACA and COCA, maintaining accreditation and high scores during site visits.
  • Assure the CampDoc registration system is streamlined, effective, and collects all needed information as defined by ACA, COCA, and the Medical Director.
  • Oversee the collection and maintenance of records for statistical and reporting purposes.
  • Provide reports on the program for staff and development to utilize for funding and reporting efforts
  • Act as the liaison for camp insurances, managing certificates of insurance and ensuring activity coverage.
  • Ensure data is collected on all aspects of the program: families, volunteers, in-kind donations and that all proper notifications and acknowledgements are followed through.
  • Monitor the program activities on a regular basis and conduct an annual evaluation and report evaluation findings to the Director of Operations and recommend changes to enhance the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or demonstrate equivalent professional experience, with at least three years of experience in camp programming and management. A passion for programming and volunteer engagement is essential, along with demonstrated success in developing and evaluating programs. 

Candidates should have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, outstanding attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and integrate information effectively. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a deep commitment to Camp Rainbow Gold’s mission are critical. All candidates must pass a criminal background check.
