The Opportunity

The Director of Development (DOD) is responsible for ensuring that CATCH, Inc. reaches its strategic fundraising goals, as determined by the Board of Directors and Executive Director, including developing and implementing one-year, five-year, and long-term goals for funders and partnerships. The DOD leads and expands a sustainable development program, including a portfolio of donors, annual giving, donor relations, special events, corporate and individual sponsorships. The position includes oversight of the Grants Manager. The DOD is a member of the CATCH Leadership Team, is supervised by the Executive Director and supervises the Development Team.

Essential Functions

Individual Giving

  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and grows individual giving campaigns, including Idaho Gives, monthly giving and multi-year giving commitments.
  • Serves as the relationship manager for 75 portfolio donors
  • Develops strategies for new donor acquisition and cultivation of new prospects. Responsible for continuous research on, and development of, diversified fundraising strategies and techniques to meet financial goals. 
  • Develops and implements planned giving campaigns, including growing CATCH, Inc.’s endowment fund.

Donor Relations and Tracking

  • Responsible for the oversight, management, accountability, and reporting of all donor information. Maintains donor tracking database software (Bloomerang) and fundraising platforms (QGiv, etc.). 
  • Tracks effectiveness of development activities and provides reporting to Executive Director and Board of Directors. 
  • Develops a comprehensive communication plan to promote CATCH, Inc. to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization. 
  • Plans and executes strategies for donor recognition and engagement, including annual celebration events, thank you letters, personal calls, invitations to special events, etc.  

Special Events/Fundraising

  • Serves as primary coordinator for CATCH the Flavor, our annual fundraising event,  by leading the solicitation of corporate sponsorships and auction items, marketing and building the event, and coordinating staff and volunteer support. 
  • Develop, oversee, and ensure compliance with gift accepting, gift counting, and gift processing policies and procedures.   
  • Solicits and manages all vendors related to special events, including managing and negotiating contracts with input from Executive Director.   

Public Relations

  • Provides leadership for the public relations plan, including external marketing and graphic design contractors, as well as staff and volunteers.   
  • Creates and implements the annual calendar and timeline of events, campaigns and public relations opportunities.  
  • Works with the Development team to develop and maintain presentation and marketing materials to utilize as needed by Board members, agency staff, volunteers or others for fundraising, volunteer recruitment, or public awareness purposes. 
  • Oversees media interaction, as well as social media, online and print materials, including eblasts and e-newsletters, ensuring consistency of messaging across platforms and departments.   

Community Ambassadorship

  • Co-chairs CATCH’s Development committee, ensuring adequate membership and resources. Works with the committee Chair, Executive Director, and Board of Directors to develop and implement goals and action plans. Solicits, orients and trains committee members, providing training on speaking engagements, community event participations, and prospect solicitation. Monitors committee’s progress towards goals and objects and provides reporting to Executive Director and Board of Directors. 
  • Maintains necessary resources and materials for community tabling events. 
  • Builds relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of CATCH, Inc. 
  • Increases community awareness, visibility, and understanding of CATCH, Inc. through presentations, speaking engagements, and community event participation. 

Grant Writing and Grant Management

  • Supervises the Grants Manager, supporting their work to identify grant opportunities, write grant proposals, and manage grant funding.   

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years experience in nonprofit development and/or nonprofit administration with demonstrated success in individual giving and special events fundraising and management.

  • Experience in prospecting, soliciting, and stewarding individual gifts and corporate sponsorships.
  • Experience with major donor cultivation and solicitation of large individual gifts ($10,000+) 
  • Experience in working with staff, Board members, volunteers, and donors to make connections, identify prospects, and create a culture of philanthropy. 
  • Experience in increasing community awareness through development and distribution of public relations and marketing materials and campaigns. 
  • Project management skills to plan, set goals and objectives, and executive actions for special events and donor campaigns. 
  • Ability to manage donor software programs and tracking systems for monetary and non- monetary resources. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
