The Children’s Museum of Idaho was the first non-profit children’s museum in Idaho to engage children, families and the community in learning through creative play. The museum contains unique hands-on interactive exhibits and extensive programming to inspire creativity and imagination for children ages 1-9. The museum, located in Meridian, opened in December 2018 and has grown to serve nearly 125,000 visitors annually.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate must have a background in non-profit accounting principles and practices, experience with grant reporting, donor databases, and the ability to manage financial records accurately and efficiently.

This position requires prior knowledge and at least three years’ work experience in QuickBooks Online.

Responsibilities:

  • Record day-to-day transactions in QuickBooks Online including entering daily revenue, coding invoices, expenses, bills and processing payment
  • Make bank deposits
  • Perform bank and credit card account reconciliations
  • Prepare sales tax report and process payment
  • Process bi-weekly payroll in coordination with contract accounting firm
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and year-end financial reports
  • Collaborate with contract accounting firm to ensure accuracy and compliance in financial records
  • Conduct regular reviews of financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Assist Executive Director and Corporate Treasurer with annual budget and the preparation of quarterly board meeting materials
  • Maintain data base of donors and funders
  • Record and track grants and prepare reports

Professional Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role, with expertise in QuickBooks Online
  • Solid understanding of non-profit bookkeeping, accounting principles and grant reporting
  • Ability to meet strict filing deadlines and produce deliverables accurately and timely
  • Strong communicator with extreme attention to detail
