NeighborWorks® Boise (NWB), an affordable housing nonprofit, seeks an experienced Housing Education Manager to lead our homebuyer education and counseling initiatives. With an emphasis on outreach, this position will develop and facilitate workshops and improve our client services. Reporting to the COO, the Housing Education Manager co-directs NWB’s Homeownership Center alongside the Mortgage Lending Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Education and Workshop Facilitation

  • Oversee and enhance homeownership education programs across Idaho
  • Facilitate monthly Homebuyer Education Seminars
  • Develop and lead engaging workshops on financial literacy, credit management, and other NWB homeownership programs and services
  • Lead educational programs to diverse audiences, including first-time buyers, renters, and other populations within the community
  • Collaborate with industry professionals (loan officers, realtors, inspectors) to enhance class and workshop content

Program Development and Outreach

  • Expand education initiatives across Idaho through partnerships and strategic outreach
  • Assess community needs and develop targeted education initiatives
  • Utilize in-person, virtual, and self-paced learning formats to increase accessibility
  • Act as NWB’s representative in the community, building partnerships with local organizations and financial institutions
  • Promote homeownership education through employer collaborations, real estate professionals, and nonprofit networks

Housing Counseling

  • Provide one-on-one counseling on budgeting, credit improvement, and mortgage readiness
  • Develop action plans for clients, including resource referrals
  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure data integrity in management systems

Leadership and Compliance

  • Supervise and support HUD-certified housing counselors
  • Conduct staff training, performance evaluations, and certification support
  • Monitor data collection, reporting, and staff certifications (NeighborWorks America®, HUD, Idaho Housing and Finance Association)
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for program operations

Budgeting and Grant Management

  • Develop and manage program budgets
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities to expand homeownership services
  • Oversee grant reporting and stakeholder communications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and implement new processes and programs
  • Proficiency in client management systems (e.g., CounselorMax®) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Strong organizational, time management, and public speaking skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required

Education and Experience

  • HUD Housing Counseling Certification required (or must obtain within 4 months of hire)
  • Continuing education and Certification from the NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling (NCHEC) will be required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Five+ years in social services, human services, affordable housing, or a related field
  • Two+ years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of affordable housing and limited-income homeownership challenges

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: Starting compensation of $68,000 or DOE
