Shoshone Project brings together people, ideas and resources in Blaine and Lincoln Counties to help strengthen communities, support families, and encourage philanthropy in Lincoln County, Idaho. Our primary focus is around food security and youth and families. 

The Part-Time Executive Director (ED) will work with the Shoshone Project Board to oversee and prioritize the Shoshone Project's operations, strategic direction, and growth. This is a broad job description and the ED will work with the board to prioritize the needs of the organization. This position is suited for an experienced, dynamic individual with strong leadership, management, and fundraising skills, who is capable of working independently. The ED will focus on managing the nonprofit's  growth and impact, ensuring financial stability, and cultivating relationships with community members and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Strategic Direction
    • Provide overall strategic leadership to ensure the organization’s mission, vision, and goals are achieved.
    • Collaborate with the board of directors to set, evaluate, and prioritize ED responsibilities. Refine strategic goals that align with the organization’s mission and values.
    • Guide decision-making processes and assist the board in fulfilling their governance duties.
    • Cultivate relationships with individuals and organizations in Lincoln County, addressing both short-term needs and long-term visions.
    • Cultivate relationships with individuals and organizations in Blaine County to create connections and support for individuals and organizations in Lincoln County.
  2. Financial Management & Budget Oversight
    • Oversee the development and management of the organization’s budget for 2025, ensuring effective and efficient resource allocation.
    • Collaborate with the board and financial staff to uphold sound fiscal policies and procedures.
    • Work with the Treasurer to prepare financial reports for the board, regularly monitoring revenue and expenses.
  3. Fundraising & Development
    • Partner with the board on fundraising efforts and strategies that support the organization’s annual budget and programs. Identify new revenue streams and opportunities for growth, including individual donations, grants, and partnerships.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, grantors, and community partners to ensure sustainable funding.
    • Lead grant writing efforts, working with the board and volunteers to identify new funding sources.
    • Plan and execute, with Board support, 2-3 small (30 to 50 people) fundraising events and outreach initiatives in 2025 to build the donor base and raise funds.
  4. Operational Oversight and Program Management
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the nonprofit, including part time staff and volunteers. Help to evaluate staff needs as the organizations grows.
    • Assist local nonprofits in Lincoln County in developing essential bookkeeping and auditing practices.
  5. Community & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work with board members to advocate and raise awareness, representing Shoshone Project's mission and programs in the community and the needs of Lincoln County residents.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, partner organizations, and key stakeholders in both counties.
    • Ensure effective communication with the board and external partners through regular updates and reports.
    • Build and nurture relationships with donors, volunteers, and community groups to increase awareness and support.
  6. Communications & Marketing
    • Oversee communications efforts, including social media, newsletters, website content, and other outreach materials to raise visibility and awareness.
    • Ensure all messaging reflects the nonprofit's mission, vision, and programs, engaging stakeholders and attracting new supporters.
  7. Board Relations & Governance
    • Provide regular reports to the board on financial status, fundraising progress, program updates, and overall performance
    • Collaborate with the board to develop and review policies to ensure the organization operates in alignment with nonprofit governance best practices.
    • Assist with board development, including recruitment, orientation, and training of new board members.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in nonprofit management, ideally with a focus on leadership, strategy and fundraising.
  • Experience managing budgets of $500K or more.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of building relationships with a diverse range of individuals and organizations. Bi-lingual skills a positive
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor development, including grant writing and individual giving.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a part-time capacity.
  • Experience in staff and volunteer management, with a focus on team-building and motivation.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)( donor management platform Bloomerang experience is a plus)

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or a related field preferred; a master’s degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in a nonprofit organization preferred, with experience managing budgets of at least $250K.
  • Experience working in or with small to mid-sized organizations is highly preferred.

Part-Time Considerations:

  • This is a part-time position, requiring an expected commitment of 20 hours per week. Flexibility in hours is available based on work needs. Possibility of moving into a full time position as the organization grows.
  • The ED must prioritize key tasks and focus on high-impact activities to support the organization’s goals, leveraging volunteers and other resources when possible.
  • The role requires remote work and/or flexible hours.
