Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Centers
Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Centers provides early education and nurturing to over 200 children in the Treasure Valley daily by ensuring school readiness, empowering families and building strong futures.
Position
Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Philanthropy Director will spearhead fund development efforts as Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Centers continues to grow. This is a key leadership position that requires leadership skills and excellent communication.
Strategic Planning:
- Alongside the ED and board, develop and help implement strategic goals for the organization
- Communicate regularly to the ED, other staff and the board to assist with goals
- Support transitions through succession events in key leadership roles
Philanthropy Development
- Develop and execute Giraffe Laugh’s fundraising plan
- Educate and encourage board involvement in fundraising
- Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
- Manage the database (Neon) and direct staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
- Execute the Benevon Model strategies used by the organization through tours, donor engagement and the annual luncheon
- Execute a strategy for a large sustained donor base and organize special events
- Engage volunteers and support the volunteer program
- Assist in coordinating major fundraising events and volunteers for those events in conjunction with the volunteer coordinator
Building Partnerships
- Build relationships with potential corporate sponsors
- Seek activities that inform the public about Giraffe Laugh
- Assist Site Directors and teachers in understanding their part in fundraising and donor relations
- Collaborate with other organizations to further the mission and goals of Giraffe Laugh
Additional Responsibilities
- Support grant writing when needed by reviewing, providing stats or budget information
- Work with the marketing team to ensure that all materials are up to date and accurate
- Lead board Sustainability Committee
- Have fun, laugh and get a hug now and then from a cute kid so you remember why you’re doing this. Take care of yourself so that you can do this.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in fundraising, event planning, or philanthropy within a non-profit environment.
- Knowledge of the Benevon model preferred
- Knowledge of the general policies, procedures, principles and practices of non-profit organizations, including board development
- Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to think critically about organizational needs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Familiarity with CRM’s such as Neon is a plus
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to use MailChimp
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Giraffe Laugh staff, Board of Directors, donors, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies
