ABOUT THE ROLE

The Education Manager is a key member of the Boise Philharmonic team, responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all education-related activities, with a primary focus on the Boise Phil Youth Orchestra (BPYO) and School Concert programs. This role requires an organized, communicative, detail-oriented person who will work in close collaboration with the BPYO Music Director and the Operations Team staff to deliver impactful, organized, and educationally rich programming that supports the organization’s mission to inspire and engage the community through music.

The BPYO program includes 4 different youth ensembles comprised of approximately 300 students. Ensembles are auditioned in May and December, rehearse weekly, and perform 3 concerts throughout the season. Students span 4th-12th grades and have highly engaged parents who communicate regularly with the Education Manager. This program anticipates seeing steady, significant growth over the next 5 years and needs an individual who can develop administrative structure and systems that support this growth in youth music education.

School Concerts bring 7,000 - 12,000 4th grade students from around the Treasure Valley together over one week to experience a live, professional symphony orchestra performance. The primary focus of the Education Manager for these performances is managing class/school signups, performance capacity, and pre/post classroom support materials related to performances. Additional involvement and collaboration are needed with Operations and Artistic areas to ensure a seamless experience for internal and external participants.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
  • Experience with basic budget management is desired.
  • Administrative experience with a youth music education program is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Able to set priorities, self-direct, and multi-task while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive as part of a team with diverse experience, expertise, skills and objectives.
