Scope of Work
The Family Strengthening Director (FSD,) under the direction of the Executive Director, provides supervision to and support for the Family Strengthening staff, interns, service-learning students, and volunteers. The FSD develops strategic plans to execute programs involving prevention of child abuse and neglect in our community. Strategic goals include 1. training of staff to enroll and facilitate family support and educational groups effectively; 2. build and maintain relationships with other agencies and funders; 3. plan and coordinate community events for families and stakeholders; and 4. evaluate and report on the progress of programs. The FSD will also maintain the integrity of all curriculum for adults and children—assisting families in their growth of becoming a stronger and healthier family. The FSD will be an expert in family systems, effective writer, and expert communicator and presenter. The FSD will have the ability to work with diverse groups, including individuals living in crisis and higher education professionals including subject matter experts. The FSD advocates for the best interest of high-risk families preventing abuse and neglect. The FSD will be familiar with Adverse Childhood Experiences and the application of prevention factors for the family unit and community. The FSD will have a strong background in management, organization, and training and a working knowledge of child development, issues of poverty, effects of parental incarceration, and trauma. The FSD will possess a solid understanding of barriers faced by oppressed and marginalized populations and the ability to manage programs that provide meaningful and effective evaluation of services. The FSD will also share the passion for the Family Advocates mission.

Job Criteria
This employee will have experience in community benefit organizational management as well as four years of management experience. A bachelor’s degree or 4 years’ experience in early childhood education, adult education, public administration, public health prevention (domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, etc.) business administration, or related field preferred.
