Position Summary:
Jesse Tree is seeking a visionary, relationship-driven Executive Director (ED) to lead our mission to prevent eviction and homelessness in the Treasure Valley. The ED will ensure Jesse Tree’s financial health, set the strategic direction with the board, direct and manage a staff of 18, expand our community influence, and cultivate high-impact partnerships with funders, government, and stakeholders. As the face of the organization, the ED will elevate Jesse Tree’s role in housing stability efforts across the region while stewarding its long-term sustainability and impact.

Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Financial Management
- Lead donor cultivation and stewardship, focusing on major gifts, institutional partnerships, and community campaigns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with philanthropic partners, foundations, corporations, and public agencies.
- Oversee high-level fundraising strategy while empowering staff to manage day-to-day development operations.
- Maintain the financial integrity of the organization through sound fiscal management, budgeting, and reporting.
Organizational Health, Governance & Operations
- Partner with the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance, financial oversight, and mission alignment.
- Provide strategic direction to senior staff and ensure accountability to key performance indicators.
- Hire, retain, and supervise a qualified and diverse staff.
- Oversee contracts, grants, policies, and ensure organizational compliance with all relevant regulations and reporting obligations.
- Oversee strategic plans, calendars, work plans, and tracking systems for organizational activities, grants, fundraising, and partnerships.
External Relations & Community Engagement
- Serve as the lead ambassador for Jesse Tree, strengthening relationships with community partners, government agencies, donors, and the media.
- Represent Jesse Tree in public forums, coalitions, and policy conversations to advance the mission to prevent homelessness.
- Expand visibility and trust in the Treasure Valley, ensuring Jesse Tree’s services reach those most in need.
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Promote a positive and mission- and values-driven organizational culture.
- Shape and drive Jesse Tree’s long-term strategic direction in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
- Position Jesse Tree as a thought leader and catalyst for regional solutions to housing instability.
- Identify trends, opportunities, and emerging needs to inform organizational growth and policy influence.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in nonprofit leadership or fundraising roles.
- Managerial experience.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for systems change.
- Familiarity with housing issues, social services, or community development in the Treasure Valley or similar context.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
Salary & Benefits:
- $90,000-100,000 annual salary
- 100% employer paid health, vision, and dental insurance
- 15 days of PTO starting annually and 10 paid federal holidays
Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. Compensation and benefits are commensurate with experience and negotiated with the Board of Directors. The role sometimes requires evening and weekend work. The Executive Director serves at-will and reports to the Board of Directors.
