This overview describes the work that the temporary Education Specialist will do to facilitate education programs from January 5 - July 31 for 20 - 25 hours a week.
Background:
The mission of the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights is to promote respect for human dignity and diversity through education and to foster individual responsibility to work for justice and peace. We achieve this mission by providing educational programs and resources onsite at the Wassmuth Center, offsite in classrooms, companies, and communities throughout Idaho, and online reaching national and international audiences.
As an education center, we are devoted to developing research-based programs and resources designed to support the integration of human rights education in the classroom and community. All staff positions at the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights are directly tied to the organizational mission and collaborate in the development, design, and distribution phases of strategic outcomes.
The temporary Education Specialist will play a crucial role in planning, organizing, and facilitating our human rights education initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact by developing and delivering educational programs that empower individuals, educators, and communities to advance human rights, thereby contributing to creating a more compassionate and equitable society.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development:
Collaborate with the education team to develop human rights curricula, resources, workshops, institutes, conferences, events, camps, and programs for learners of all ages.
Program Implementation:
o Plan and facilitate two monthly community-facing programs.
o Facilitate field trip experiences for elementary through university classes who visit the Wassmuth Center.
o Co-lead the Wassmuth Youth Leadership Program.
o Co-plan and facilitate four sessions of summer camp.
Outreach and Engagement:
o Forge and maintain strong relationships with schools, educational institutions, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote human rights education.
o Collaborate with staff to develop outreach strategies, educational materials, and promotional content.
o Regularly share about human rights and our specific education programs on our website, social media, and weekly newsletter.

Some programming takes place at the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, other outdoor/semi-outdoor environments or in other community settings.
