Position Overview

Radio Boise seeks a part-time, contract-based Executive Director to provide strategic leadership, oversee business operations, and drive fundraising and community partnerships.

This is a quarterly renewable contract position focused on maintaining organizational stability and financial sustainability rather than daily staff management. The contractor will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and station leadership to ensure effective operations and strong community support.

Time commitment: approximately 10–15 hours per week, renewable quarterly based on mutual agreement and available funding.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Community Representation

  • Work with the Board of Directors to implement Radio Boise’s strategic priorities and ensure alignment with its mission.
  • Represent Radio Boise in the community and at events such as Treefort Music Fest, Radiothon, and other outreach initiatives.
  • Build partnerships with local arts, business, and civic organizations that strengthen Radio Boise’s visibility and impact.

Fundraising & Development

  • Lead donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, including major donors and foundations.
  • Provide guidance regarding fundraising events, such as Radiothon, online campaigns, and community events.
  • Research and oversee preparation of grant proposals and reports in coordination with staff, board, and/or volunteers.
  • Provide monthly fundraising updates and strategic recommendations to the Board.

Financial & Business Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day financial processes, including approval and timely payment of bills, invoices, and reimbursements.
  • Coordinate payroll processing and ensure accurate documentation and compliance with tax and employment regulations.
  • Monitor cash flow, track expenses, and maintain accurate financial records in collaboration with the Treasurer, Finance Committee, and bookkeeper.
  • Provide input with budget preparation.
  • Ensure adherence to nonprofit financial and reporting standards.

Organizational Support & Governance

  • Collaborate with the Board to ensure compliance with FCC, IRS, and state nonprofit requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date organizational documents, licenses, and filings.
  • Attend monthly board meetings and prepare concise financial updates.

Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit administration, small business management, or financial operations.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, process payroll, and oversee day-to-day business operations.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, andor community engagement.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities without direct staff supervision.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred.
  • Passion for independent media, local arts, and community-based organizations.

Contract Terms

  • Type: Independent Contractor (no employee benefits)
  • Hours: Approximately 12-15 hours per week
  • Compensation: $12,000 per quarter, commensurate with experience
  • Term: Quarterly renewable contract
  • Reports To: Board of Directors
