Marketing and Development Associate Job Description:

Far + Wise is a dedicated education non-profit organization offering year-round Kindergarten to Career programming at no cost to qualifying Blaine County students. Through targeted academic support, skills training, and workforce preparation, Far + Wise removes barriers to learning and opportunity and paves the way for lifelong success.

Far + Wise delivers two comprehensive programs to support Blaine County students from early learning through the completion of a post-secondary program:

  • Lewis Scholars Program (grades K-12+): Beginning in kindergarten, daily afterschool enrichment focused on literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development and consistent mentorship through high school graduation.
  • Cimino Center for Career Exploration (grades 6–12+): Hands-on career pathways, workplace exposure, skill-building workshops and post-secondary navigation.

Position Description:

Far + Wise is seeking a Marketing and Development Associate to assist with critical communications and fundraising initiatives. This results-driven and detail oriented professional assists the Executive Director in shaping the organization's donor–facing communications and fundraising strategy. The Marketing and Development Associate collaborates closely with other members of the administrative team to organize and orchestrate fundraising events, including the Far + Wise annual gala. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic mid-sized nonprofit that is serving a critical need in the county. This position has the potential to grow into a more senior role.

Key Responsibilities 

Marketing and Communications:

  • Educate the Blaine County community about the Far + Wise mission, vision and programming.
  • In collaboration with others, design and send all outbound communications (newsletters, social media campaigns, advertisements, etc.).

Donor Stewardship: 

  • Play a meaningful role in cultivating and sustaining relationships between Far + Wise and donors.
  • Manage donation collection process and ensure consistent delivery of donor-related communications.
  • Maintain, update, and grow the Far + Wise donor database.
  • Create and analyze reports on donor activity and campaign performance.

Event Coordination and Management:

  • Assist in planning and executing fundraising events. 
  • Manage event logistics, including venue setup, vendor coordination, and guest registration. 
  • Oversee event-related communications.

Grant Support: Track deadlines for grant applications and ensure applications are submitted in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate on the research, writing, and submission of grants.
  • Manage communication with foundations and other grant agencies to promote transparency and trust through the grant reporting process.

General Administrative Support:

  • Support the team with various administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings, organizing files, and preparing materials for donor meetings. 
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders warmly and effectively.
  • Outstanding writing, storytelling, and communication skills; able to craft persuasive messaging and articulate a compelling case for support.
  • High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.
  • Organized, process-oriented, and comfortable setting up systems that create structure, efficiency and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other members of an administrative team.
  • Proficiency in technology, including CRM databases, Google Suite, and the ability to navigate other development/events platforms.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $60,000 - $80,000.
