Role Summary:
The Community Schools Coach is an integral part of the United Way of Treasure Valley team and supports the Idaho Coalition for Community Schools (ICCS) in helping to expand the community school strategy across Idaho. The Coach serves as a direct line of support for school district partners in rural communities throughout the state, providing training and coaching sessions for school teams. The Coach is responsible for clear communication with partners, building trusting relationships, and co-creating and facilitating a menu of professional learning opportunities that fit the needs of each community. The Coach is part of an energetic and collaborative team, working alongside two other Coaches and partnering with Community Schools staff across areas of sustainability, community engagement, data and evaluation, and grant compliance.
Exciting Developments for the Coalition:
United Way of Treasure Valley has received a Full Service Community Schools grant from the U.S. Department of Education to expand the community school strategy in 50 public schools across rural Idaho. The Community School Coach is integral to ensuring rural schools and districts can successfully implement the community school strategy for school transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Training and Professional Learning:
• Train and coach Community School Coordinators (CSCs), school administrators and partners using the Community Schools Forward Framework, Four Pillars of Community Schools, and evidence-based coaching practices
• Co-design and execute professional learning opportunities such as monthly Peer Learning Networks, training series, conference sessions, and coaching cycles
• Collaborate with contracted technical assistance providers to plan and execute professional learning opportunities
Technical Assistance and Support:
• Provide targeted technical assistance to school teams on data collection, use, and reporting with the Data and Evaluation Coordinator
• Assist schools in developing strategic community school action plans to expand the pipeline of services for families and children based on the assets and needs of each community
• Assist in creating and maintaining an online collaborative space for virtual training materials, resource sharing, and peer connection
Implementation Compliance:
• Support school sites in implementing the community school strategy and related practices with fidelity and in compliance with grant guidelines
Outreach:
• Conduct outreach to school districts and potential partners to increase awareness of the benefits of community schools and encourage expansion
• Report to the Community Schools Senior Project Manager and the ICCS State Steering Committee on progress and barriers to implementing community school strategy across Idaho
Additional Responsibilities:
• Provide support to other departments and core functions of UWTV, including operations, marketing/public relations, and resource development, to advance our mission

Knowledge and Skills:
• Belief all adults can learn and change practices
• Ability to manage multiple projects, relationships, and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, problem solving, communication, and calendar management skills are a must
• Ability to collect, analyze data, and understand trends
• Strong knowledge of school systems and regional community-based organizations
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with others
Education and Experience:

• A bachelor's degree in education, social work, or related field
• Minimum three years' experience in family and community engagement, adult education, or coaching within the nonprofit or education sector
• Experience as a community school practitioner strongly preferred
• Experienced public speaker and facilitator
• Use of data-driven decision making in systems-level practices for supporting children and families
• Proven ability to effectively work and plan strategically diverse stakeholders
Physical Requirements:
The ability to meet the standard physical demands of an office environment, including prolonged periods of computer use. Requires reliable transportation and the ability to travel frequently within the region and state, with occasional out-of-state travel as needed.
Location:
Hybrid/Boise-based with statewide scope (Idaho residency required). United Way’s office is in Boise, Idaho. This role offers a flexible hybrid schedule to support work across the state, with in-office time determined by project and organizational needs.
