The Cabin is a Boise literary arts organization dedicated to providing programs for readers and writers of all ages, through exceptional programs, education, and community gatherings.  Our offices and classrooms are in a recently renovated 1940's forestry building between the greenbelt and Boise main branch public library.

The Education Program Coordinator is a pt position that works alongside the Education Program Manager in the following programs: Writers in the Schools (WITS), Summer Writing Camps, and Adult Writing Workshops. The coordinator is additionally  responsible for facilitating student anthologies year-round and our Cambia event every spring.

Job Duties

  • Distribute and collect surveys and oversee data collection and entry.
  • Distribute and maintain contracts for teaching-writers and schools.
  • Collect, proofread, file, and organize anthology materials for WITS and Camps.
  • Attend and assist with all orientations for teaching-writers.
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers and administrators for programming needs.
  • Edit and proofread Cambia, our WITS student anthology.
  • Plan yearly Cambia anthology celebration.
  • Oversee our free Drop-In Writing Workshops on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.
  • Support teaching-writers in facilitating creative writing lessons to students of all ages.

 

Shared Duties (all Cabin Staff are responsible for these)

  • Attend occasional board and committee meetings
  • Answering phones
  • Greeting visitors
  • Keeping the building and work areas clean
  • Taking out trash and recycling
  • Staffing events

 

The Perfect Candidate Would Posses

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with both children and adults
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Workspace
  • Attention to detail
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent time management skills
  • The ability to both work independently and as a team
  • Passion for the literary arts
  • The ability to work under pressure

Pay: $19.50-$21.50 depending on experience

PT: 24 hours a week

PT Benefits: vacation, sick, and holiday hours, 3% simple IRA match, 4 day work week (closed mondays)
