As Managing Director you will primarily be responsible for Development, including show and program sponsorships, working with the Producing Artistic Director to help spearhead a potential $3M capital campaign*, overseeing our annual gala fundraiser, identifying and incentivizing individual donors, and helping to ensure the fiscal health of the organization. You will also oversee the health and efficacy of the theater’s operations and administration, including building maintenance and upkeep, front of house operations, payroll, and the logistics surrounding all visiting artists. You will work hand-in-hand with the Marketing Manager and Finance Manager, and have three direct reports – Finance Manager, the Patron Services Manager (ticket sales, front of house management, volunteer coordination, company management) and a part-time Development assistant. You will report to the Producing Artistic Director. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Development including responsibilities surrounding the annual gala, sponsorships, Producers’ Circle, individual giving, and grant/federal funding.Working with Finance and Patron Services to create and maintain a successful sponsor and donor incentive plan, and to ensure appropriate follow-up and stewardship of all givers
  • Overseeing our Development Assistant’s work on writing and tracking foundation grants and federal funding opportunities, as well as other administrative tasks related to development
  • Overseeing the cleaning and maintenance schedule for the building
  • Working as needed with the Marketing Director to create a successful marketing campaign for all fundraising, ticket sales and other events
  • Working with the Finance Manager to ensure the health of the organization’s finances and to ensure contracts, record keeping, tax recording and payroll are all efficient and accurate
  • Supervising the management of incoming artist logistics including flights, hotel and housing arrangements, vehicle arrangements, and clear communication to visiting artists

  • Significant fundraising experience
  • Experience in non-profit arts administration
  • The ability to manage a team as team leader in a collaborative and respectful environment
  • A knowledge of theater and its many roles and requirements
  • Experience with financial management of a small to mid-sized business
